From West Bengal to Mumbai: An Inspirational Journey of Tattoo Artist Sudipto Biswas.
Being a lover of art since his childhood days to learning paintings and art in a small-town art school in West Bengal he has come a long way to running his own tattoo studio in Mumbai. He now has taken the task of being a mentor to hundreds of aspiring youngsters to become acclaimed tattoo artists.
Tattoo artist Sudipto Biswas is a strong believer of the truth that while art lives forever, there is no art as permanent as a tattoo on the skin.
Since he inked his first tattoo in 2005 and since then he has never looked back. He has been awarded several awards at various tattoo festivals in Pune Tattoo Festival 2017, Mumbai Tattoo Expo 2017, Heartwork Tattoo Festival 2017, Bhopal Tattoo Festival and many more…
An artist hailing from Krishna Nagar in West Bengal Sudipto travelled to Mumbai in the year 2000. He worked for 3yrs as a Graphic Designer in an Ad agency and then went on to work for 2yrs as an Artist in an Art Studio. Working for 5 long years he was not satisfied with his job and constantly thought of tattooing. He then decided to focus solely on tattooing and pursuing an art form which he has been involved with for more than 15yrs.
He began by learning on his own, reading various tattoo magazines and not forgetting his dear friends who helped him a lot on this journey.
Working as a full-time freelancer from 2005 to 2009, Sudipto was required to constantly improve by learning from other artists. He strongly believes that “Experience is still the most important way to learn tattooing”.
When it comes to experience, Sudipto has gained a lot of knowledge and techniques about tattooing. He went on to open his very own first tattoo studio in Mira Road in partnership and named it “Ink Tattoo Studio”. Making a reputed name for himself from his partnership tattoo studio, he went on to open his own tattoo studio in the year 2012 in Mira Road and named it Sudeep Tattoo and Art Studio. Now for the expansion of his business they had changed their brand name to Fossil Tattoo and Art Studio- Perfection That Is Forever.
They are open to do different designs and Sudipto had studied different styles of tattooing but his signature style is still the Colour Tattoo Design.
While Sudipto had an opportunity to learn the art of tattooing, he’s giving aspiring artists a chance to learn in his very own studio. They have launched their Fossil Tattoo Institute wherein he teaches students the art of tattooing. The kind of work involved with tattooing is permanent and hence his students go through a few months of training and observation as well as tattooing on synthetic practice skin before they are able to work on clients.
Being able to mentor other artists in Mumbai, it has further helped solidify his live for this form of art. Sudipto has also created a huge fan base all on his own and majority of his friends go to him for their tattoos.
